Top 5 Vintage Baseball Cards

If you are interested in getting into baseball card collecting, you will want to learn all about vintage cards. Vintage cards are some of the most valuable out there and can help you to make a stunning collection or make a lot of money by selling the vintage cards.

There are several things that influence the value of vintage baseball cards. This includes the condition of the card itself and how many of that particular card was made. Cards that were printed before World War I were printed in low quantities, as were cards that were printed in the immediate time after World War II. Once cards started to be mass-produced, in the 1980s, they were not quite as valuable as those that were rarely printed.

Below are the top five vintage cards and their monetary worth.

  1. 1954 Topps Hank Aaron #128 Rookie Card

All of Hank Aaron’s cards are valuable, but none are as valuable as his rookie card, especially if it is in mint condition. It is one of the best Post War rookie cards to own. If you are lucky enough to find this card, you can expect for it to go around $300,000 or more.

  1. 1901-1911 Piedmont T206 Joe Doyle Error

Joe Doyle was not the best player in the sport, but his card is very valuable and rare. The reason why his card is so rare is that, in this card, he is pictured with the Yankees. The card has the Yankees as an NL team when they should have been identified as an AL team. This error was caught quickly, and it is thought that only a few of these cards ever made it out to the public. This is the only thing that makes this card rare, and as long as the card is in good condition, you can get around $415,000 for it.

  1. 1952 Topps Mickey Mantle #311

The 1952 Topps Mickey Mantel #311 is the absolute most valuable Micky Mantel cards that you can own. There are different values to this card assigned based on condition. For a card that is near mint condition with a PSA 7, it can go for over $2,000,000. Cards that are in lesser condition can still go for $500,000 and up. This card is not the most rarest, nor is it a low printed card. In fact, ten years ago, this card was not worth what it is now. The reason why it is so valuable is because that decades ago, some of the cards were dumped out in the Hudson River. This reduced the number of cards that were out on the market. It is rare to find a complete set that is in near-mint condition.

  1. 1914 Baltimore News Babe Ruth

Babe Ruth is the most popular and the best baseball player in the history of baseball. His cards are widely sought after, including his pre-rookie card. This card is highly valuable because only ten were ever made. It is thought that most of these cards are not in great condition but can still go for $900,000 and up. Most people do not know that the Babe Ruth was in the minor leagues and played with the Baltimore Orioles. This card reflects that and is well worth the value placed on it.

  1. 1909-1911 T206 Sweet Caporal Honus Wagner

The rarest baseball card ever is the T206 Honus Wagner card. It is thought that only 60 of these cards exist in the world today. These cards were made pre-war and were discontinued after a run of about two hundred. The cards were discontinued over Honus Wagner’s objection that the card maker’s used tobacco in the advertising. He did not want his cards to feature tobacco as he did not want the younger fan base to become interested in tobacco products. One of these cards that are in excellent condition can go for $3 million dollars. If you run across one that is in poor shape, it can still fetch you thousands of dollars.

These are the five most valuable cards out there today. If you get lucky and come across one, you will have a vintage card that you can know was a worthwhile investment. Just make sure to take care of the card and keep it in great condition for the most value.
